Chandigarh: Over 900 students take part in Run for Tourism, awareness activities

The Chandigarh Administration Tuesday celebrated World Tourism Day, 2016, with various social activities across the city. The day kicked off with Run-for-Tourism organised at Sukhna Lake, which was flagged off by UT Adviser Parimal Rai.

Over 900 students from across colleges in the city participated in the run. The students of Dr Ambedkar Institute of Hotel Management, Catering and Nutrition welcomed passengers of Shatabadi Express at the railway station with rose buds.

The students also welcomed tourists and visitors at the Chandigarh International Airport who arrived from Delhi at 1 pm. An exhibition of paintings I Love The Beauty of Grey by Chandigarh-based artist Antonio Puri was also held at Government Museum and Art Gallery in Sector 10.

The exhibition was inaugurated by UT Administrator V P Singh Badnore.

Festive offer

Various competitions like rangoli-making, poster-making, essay-writing, photography and cake demonstration were also organised. Meanwhile, the Department of Tourism provided free hop-on-hop-off buses for tourists across the city throughout the day.
