Both husband and wife are posted at the Thane Rural police headquarters.

“The complainant knew that her husband was having an affair with another policewoman and wanted to confront them together. On Sunday, she learnt that her husband would be deployed at Versova Bridge for traffic bandobast and rushed there,” said Vilas Sanap, Senior Inspector, Kashi Mira police station.

Festive offer

The police said Thakur reached the bridge in his car accompanied by constable Heena Pathan, who is posted at the police headquarters in Palghar. Hovad and Thakur got into a heated argument, the police said. “Thakur was very angry to see his wife there and began to abuse and physically assault her. He then snatched Hovad’s gold necklace before driving away with Pathan,” Sanap said.

Hovad then registered a complaint of theft, assault and criminal intimidation against Thakur and Pathan. “The couple has not been on good terms for some time now. The wife had also previously filed a complaint of cruelty against Thakur. We will summon him and Pathan and record their versions of Sunday’s events before taking further action,” Sanap said.
