Love for Doddmane Huduga started with title: Radhika
Just back from a nearly one-month schedule abroad for her upcoming film with fianc' Yash, Radhika Pandit is still jet-lagged. But when you speak to her about her next, Doddmane Huduga ' produced by Ajay Pictures that is releasing on September 30 ' she is as charged up as can be. 'I loved the film right from the title. It also reunited me with Puneeth (Rajkumar) and director Suri, in what will be Puneeth's landmark 25th film.
After Hudugaru, I really wanted to work with Puneeth again. Audiences also liked our combination. But I knew that it couldn't be just another film. With Doddmane Huduga, everything seemed right, be it the team, cast or script. As a bonus, the film has a host of senior artistes onboard, including Bharathi (Vishnuvardhan) ma'am, Sumalatha ma'am, and Ambi (Ambareesh) sir, and I got to spend quality time with them, both on and off the set, as we shot major portions of the film in Hubballi,' she says excitedly.
Considering that Suri is known to make films with rather dark subjects, Radhika ' who has worked with him on Kaddipudi (also a film about rowdyism) ' was pleasantly surprised during the narration of Doddmane Huduga. 'This film has all the typical Suri-film elements, but it also has a strong family angle, which is so unlike him, and that appealed to me,' says the actress.
Radhika's character, interestingly, has two distinct shades. 'I am not playing two different people. It is one person, who will be seen as a village belle as well as a chic city gal. The village girl is from Kolar, so I had to speak a very different dialect of Kannada than what I am used to, and Puneeth's character is from Hubballi, so he was also trying to make sure that he spoke the right dialect from the region. The language apart, it was also interesting to have two very distinct body languages, costumes, makeup and languages. Often, I had to sport these two different avatars on the same day,' she says.
