Administration organinzes 9 km trek covering famous landmarks of Nainital

Nainital district administration in collaboration with Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam and residents of Nainital on occasion of World Tourism Day on Tuesday, organized a nine km trek covering famous landmarks of the town such as Tiff N Top, Barapatthar, Gurney House and many more.

NAINITAL: Nainital district administration in collaboration with Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam and residents of Nainital on occasion of World Tourism Day on Tuesday, organized a nine km trek covering famous landmarks of the town such as Tiff N Top, Barapatthar, Gurney House and many more.
Around 300 people participated in the trek including the district magistrate of Nainital. Deepak Rawat, district magistrate of Nainital said, “Trekking is one of the most adventurous sports as it involves both physical and mental strength.
The state of Uttarakhand is a paradise for those who are fond of trekking.”
The whole group started from Pant Park in Mallitaal in the morning at around 7:30 am and covered various landmarks of the town.
The famous landmarks of the city include Gurney House, summer home of famous hunter and tracker-turned-conservationist Jim Corbett and Barpatthar, an ideal spot to get clear view of the Himalayas.
Sarita Arya, the local MLA who along with the DM flagged off the trek said, “The state has great potential for various adventure sports. The town is flourishing because of tourism and we should keep our efforts up to promote such activities.”
The trek concluded at Mallitaal. The locals applauded the efforts of the Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam and district administration for such an initiative and expressed their desire to join more such expeditions.
