Ten deaths reported due to heavy rains in the district

Visakhaptnam Sep 27 (UNI) Visakhapatnam district Collector Praveen Kumar said that in all 10 deaths were reported at various places in the district so far due to heavy rains for the last three days in the district. In a release this evening Collector said ten people have lost their lives after being washed away by canals and flash floods or drowned in the rivers in the district.He said the district administration will provide ex-Gratia to the deceased at the rate of Rs.4 lakhs per each person within 24 hours. The dead were identified as.M.Chinnnaidu (32), P Latchyya (57), K.Kondala Rao (40) V.Modanna (45), K.Appalanaidu (60), T.Demudu (54) D.Somaraju (62) K.Prasad (16) P. Appa Rao and one unknown found dead in the Raiwada river. He said in all 459 houses were damaged and 6130 hectares of paddy fields were submerged in rain waters. The District collector said the district administration were put on high alert as the weather office here predicted heavy rains in the district for the next two days. He said 24 hours Command Control Centre was opened at the Collectorate with a special team monitoring it under the direct supervision of the District Revenue Officer. UNI BSR CJ PR2255
