Freight train derails at Barhan station in Agra

Agra: Train movement on the high-speed track in Tundla section of the north central railway came to a halt for over three hours on Tuesday after four wagons of an Allahabad-bound freight train from New Delhi derailed at Barhan junction.
The accident took place at 6:28 am about 194 km away from New Delhi. There was no casualty reported.
The unprecedented train accident left several trains delay after which railway had to divert 14 express, Shatabdi and Rajdhani trains of both up and down track.

According to Amit Malaviya, public relation officer of Allahabad railway division, “Seven trains each of up and down lines have been diverted. Up line trains towards New Delhi such as Guwahati- New Delhi Rajdhani, Howrah-New Delhi Rajdhani, Manduadih- New Delhi express, Bhubneshwar - New Delhi Rajdhani, Kanpur –New Delhi Shatabdi and Ranchi- New Delhi Garibrath were diverted from Tundla via Agra for Palwal.”
“While down line trains such as New Delhi- Lucknow Shatabdi, Muri express, North East Express, Mahanada Express, Magadh Express, New Delhi-Puri express and New Delhi-Jaynagar Swatantra Senani express were diverted from Khurja via Moradabad for Lucknow, Kanpur and Varanasi,” he added.
The sudden diversion of trains on different route impacted on the running times of other trains bound for Mumbai and Gujarat.
The train service on Up line for New Delhi on the affected route was only resumed by 11 am, later the senior engineers of railway visited the Barhan junction and inspected the cause of derailment.
As per railway source, “Probably the breaking system of one of the four wagon was faulty, which resulted in derailment.”
