Gurgaon: Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) on Tuesday demolished seven structures coming in the alignment of sector 37C-37D road to ensure connectivity of this area with other parts of the city through
Gurgaon-Pataudi Road.
The construction of proposed 60 metre road, which was held up due to pending litigation, was important as Huda has allotted alternative plots in sector 37-C to people affected by
Dwarka Expressway and many housing projects are coming in this area.
Huda has got favourable order from Punjab and
Haryana High Court in 2012 in a case filed by people affected by the road project challenging the alignment of road. Following Huda has paid compensation to the house owners, despite this land was not vacated. Finally on Tuesday Huda managed to demolish the structures with the help of police amidst protest from land owners.
“The construction of the road will benefit large number of people, besides it will also provide connectivity to this area with other parts of the city through Pataudi road,” said Huda administrator Yashpal Yadav.
The completion of this important road is likely to benefit several residential projects of the area. More than 8,000 flats, including affordable houses, are on the verge of completion and developers are planning to give possession to buyers in the next six months, according to officials.
"At present, sectors 37C-37D road has no connectivity with Gurgaon-Pataudi Road. The proposed road was delayed due to litigation over removal of houses coming in the way. With the demolition of structure this road will become reality," said the official.
Other important roads of the area like sectors 37C-9B road and sectors 37D-9B road are also delayed due to pending litigation. "So completion of this road was even more important,” said the official adding that construction of road will start soon.
Pankaj Yadav, who had invested in one of the housing project sector 37-C, said till now sector has no proper connectivity with other parts of the city due to which people were reluctant to move into their houses even after getting possession. “With the completion of this road many people may move into their houses in the area,” said Yadav adding that Huda should also complete other development works in the sectors.
