NNA - Sidon MP Bahia Hariri said Saturday during a visit to the northern city of Tripoli that the state is not allowed to give-up its responsibilities towards citizens, especially that each citizen is in and of him and herself the source of authority and maker of society.
Hariri spoke from Quality Inn Hotel of the many sacrifices the Lebanese have made for the sake of keeping this country sovereign and free at a time when the cabinet is trying hard to go back to the dark days of 1975, the year that saw the beginning of the infamous civil war which extended over fifteen years.
"We will not allow this to happen, we will not keep in office any official who intimidates and scares people."
The fear felt by citizens is proof that the government has come to an end, according to Hariri whose city of Sidon has experienced a rough patch with recent intense clashes between Sheikh Ahmad Assir's affiliates and the Lebanese Army.
"We will not give up our right to know what happened, we will not allow trespassers to break the laws regardless of their affiliations."
Hariri sought the judicial system for the protection of citizens.
"I call upon all lawyers to form rights groups, and I am hopeful that Tripoli will be in the lead."
