“The aim of the SAD-BJP government is to ensure that the benefit of each and every development oriented scheme reaches all the sections of society so as to raise their standard of living and transform their lives. The implementation of welfare centric schemes is an article of faith with the state government”.Making this amply clear in a meeting here today with the Deputy Commissioners and higher officials of various departments, the Deputy Chief Minister, Punjab, Sukhbir Singh Badal carried out a review of the welfare oriented schemes and instructed the DCs that no laxity would be tolerated in the implementation of such schemes.The Deputy Chief Minister while reviewing Bhagat Puran Singh Sehat Bima Yojna (BPSSBY) said that no cards under the scheme are to be distributed through depots instead the disbursal must be effected through vigilance committees. He also instructed that by 30th October all the cards must be distributed. He also said that surprise checks should be conducted by the respective district authorities in the hospitals in order to gain first hand information regarding the implementation of the scheme besides giving widespread amount of publicity to the complaint number 104 connected with the scheme.

Regarding paddy procurement, the Deputy Chief Minister made it absolutely clear that ‘Bardana’ should be made available in the mandi’s as early as possible and special attention should be paid to ensure hygienic conditions in the mandi’s. Batting for the start of lifting from the first day itself, S. Badal directed the DCs to interact with the farmers on everyday basis so as to make sure that the farming community faces no hassles in selling their produce at mandi’s. The Deputy Chief Minister also laid emphasis on distributing the previously sanctioned atta-dal cards till 5thOctober through vigilance committees. Besides this, he also asked the department of Health and Family Welfare to launch a campaign in malls and multiplexes to caution people against dengue and other deadly diseases and ensure hygienic surroundings so as to prevent these diseases from spreading.

S. Badal also directed to identify places in Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarntaran, Sangrur, Patiala and Ludhiana to construct graveyards and start tendering process immediately in this connection. Reviewing the Urban and Rural missions, the Deputy Chief Minister said that progress report regarding started and completed projects under the missions must be sent to his and Chief Secretary’s office by every Monday.Coming to the sewa kendars, S. Badal instructed that the every Sunday, a training programme should be conducted for the staff of sewa kendars so as to make them fully capable of delivering government related services to the people without any hindrance.He said that the SAD-BJP government is fully committed to the holistic development of the state in every sector and no dearth of funds would be allowed to hamper the success journey of Punjab.Among others present on the occasion included Chief Secretary, Punjab Sarvesh Kaushal, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister-S.K. Sandhu, Additional Chief Secretary (Local Bodies) Satish Chandra, Additional Chief Secretary (development) N.S. Kalsi, Principal Secretary Health and Family Welfare Vini Mahajan, Principal Secretary to the Deputy Chief Minister P.S. Aujla, Special Principal Secretaries to the Deputy Chief Minister-Rahul Tewari and Manvesh Singh Sidhu and others.
