Justin Bieber and Beyoncé lead the MTV EMA nominations 2016

Justin Bieber and Beyoncé have nabbed five nominations each at the MTV EMA awards 2016.

The Canadian star and Queen Bey will go head to head in only the one category for Biggest Fans, while Bieber has also been recognised for Best Song, Best Male, Best Pop and Best Local Act and Beyoncé has nods for Best Video for Formation, Best Female, Best Live Act and Best Look.

Adele, Rihanna and Coldplay make up the list of most nominated artists, with Adele flying the flag for the UK in the Best Song category for Hello, Best Female, Best UK and Ireland Act and Best Live Act.

Lady Gaga and Sia will go up against her for Best Female, while Biebs will fight off competition from Calvin Harris, Drake, Shawn Mendes and The Weeknd for Best Male.

Adele will also be challenged in the Best UK and Ireland Act category by Zayn Malik, Coldplay, Little Mix and Years and Years.

Meanwhile, our favourite Swedish star Zara Larsson has been recognised for her huge success over the past 12 months and nominated as Best New Act alongside Bebe Rexha, Joe Jonas’ group DNCE, Lukas Graham and The Chainsmokers.
