Latvia's Border Guard detained 10 Russian citizens of a Chechen nationality, while Polish officials on September 8 arrested the core of the group - two Russian citizens and a Polish citizen as part of an international operation.
While Lithuania arrested one of the main suspects - a Russian citizen of Chechen nationality on whom an EU arrest order had been placed.
"The group was engaged in organizing illegal migration from Vietnam, through Russia and the Baltic countries, to Poland," said Agnieszka Golias, a spokeswoman for the Polish border guard service, reported thenews.pl.
Golias said the men were charged with being part of an international organized criminal gang. They face up to 10 years in prison.
Polish border guards have detained 42 illegal migrants - all of them Vietnamese citizens - in connection with the case, while another 42 people have been detained by the Lithuanian and Latvian authorities, Golias said.
