PUNE: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is taking help of street plays to create awareness about voters' registration and provide information about upcoming civic elections, a statement issued by PMC.
"The citizens, who wish to register as voters for the upcoming municipal elections, can take advantage of the registration drive," said a PMC official.
PMC has undertaken the work of updating the voters' list from September 16.
The work will go on for around a month. This exercise will allow people to check, edit or add their names after which the final voter list for the municipal elections scheduled in February 2017, will be prepared.
The statement issued by the PMC said citizens can visit their nearest voting centre to check their names on the voters' list.
The rolls, which were used for the assembly elections in 2014, will be the basis for finalising the voter list but new names will be added.
The administration will take help from Ganesh mandals or any other organisations that want to create awareness about voters' registration, by providing them with outreach material.
The process of delimitation to demarcate new panels for the civic polls scheduled in February 2017 has been completed. For the first time, citizens in the PMC limits will vote for four members at a time.
