Passenger train’s wheel damaged; Major accident averted

Narsinghpur, MP, Sep 27 (UNI) A major accident was averted with the alertness of the driver when the engine’s wheel of Itarsi-Satna passenger train was damaged at a crossing near Gotegaon Railway station today, railway sources said.
Driver Ravindra Yadav applied the emergency brake as soon as he felt that something went wrong and stopped the train immediately.
Several places of the wheel’s outer portion were damaged. Railway’s technical staff rushed to the spot as soon as they got information and replaced the wheel. The train services in the section was disrupted for some time due to the incident. The train later started for its destination.

Day temp above normal at many places over Sub-Himalayan

Pune, April 25 (UNI) Day temperatures were markedly above normal(5.1°C or more) at many places over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim; at isolated places over Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal and Assam and Meghalaya; appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at isolated places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh and Jharkhand; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema, south interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal and Kerala and Mahe; at isolated places over east Uttar Pradesh, Odisha and Telangana. These were below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) at isolated places over Vidarbha and east Madhya Pradesh and near normal over rest parts of the country. Yesterday, the highest maximum temperature of 43.7°C was reported at Anantapur
(Rayalaseema) over the country.
