Over 7.1 million people transit Bucharest's Henri Coanda airport in 8 months

27 September 2016

The number of passengers who transited the Henri Coanda International Airport, the biggest in Romania, amounted to 7.1 million between January and August this year.

The number was 16.5% higher compared to the same period last year, reports local Profit.ro.

The Bucharest Airports National Company, which manages the Henri Coanda and Baneasa airports, expects to have more than 10 million passengers this year. The traffic on the Baneasa airport is very low as only private planes land here.

In 2015, the Henri Coanda airport, also called Otopeni, recorded 9.3 million passengers. The rapid increase in the number of passengers has also generated discontent in the last months due to the congestion.
