We can t have the genius of a director called Yash Chopra back but on his birthday today, we can definitely wish to watch some of his masterpieces recreated . This is our list of films which can have Shah Rukh and Salman Khan as well.

Yash Chopra would have been a year older had he been alive. He would have been penning another classic tale of romance, pain, separation and eventual happy ending. He would have been looking for his heroine, the one who looks the gorgeous on screen. But all was lost in 2012, when he decided to bid adieu to the cinema world. All we are left with are his cinematic gems that inspire us to wish for a better filmi future. They also remind us of a Bollywood when his films are still in theatres. Futuristic thoughts? Not really. Out of so many films that Chopra has directed, there are some which can be remade so that the present generation realises what they have missed. Waqt

Waqt was a multi-starrer, perhaps a rarity in those days. From the intense Raj Kumar to the soft Sunil Dutt to the naive Shashi Kapoor, it was just fascinating. If that wasn’t enough, Balraj Sahni’s presence made it a heavyweight movie. There was everything; love, happy family struck by natural calamity which snowballs into a tragedy and the family loses each other’s presence in their lives. Daag

It’s love all the way. Rajesh Khanna, the quintessential romantic superstar and his hit co-star Sharmila Tagore, rekindled their Aaradhna’s love in this film which was nothing less than poetic. But there was an aberration in the form of Rakhee. Love triangles were a rage then and also in the 90s but now it has become sparse.

Kabhie Kabhie

A love triangle yet again but it spans two generations. This Yash Chopra gem will be a challenge for any actor who plays the lead roles of Amitabh Bachchan, Shashi Kapoor and Rakhee. That’s because one will have to age to show the time span. An incomplete love saga and a loving promise of a future…this has all.

Cast probables: Shah Rukh Khan can play AB’s role, professing his love for Kajol in the form of a heartfelt verse while Saif Ali Khan can swoop in as the man she marries instead. Silsila

Love if not reciprocated stings but if it goes to someone else, it burns. Silsila was an epic saga…a 3 hours of an apparent reality on screen. Rumours mills then were abuzz about an alleged affair between Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha while Jaya Bachchan was in the backseat. Chopra managed to smear the screens with the same and with utmost sincerity without pulling anyone down.

Cast probables: Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone could just be perfect for this!

Lamhe

A love between a girl in her 20s with a man twice her age who also had feelings for her dead mother was an unheard of concept in those days. Lamhe was a daring film…much daring for Chopra who always did believable romances. It was many years ahead of time. Today, it’s a classic. Anil Kapoor and Sridevi just bowled us over. Now, it will be an epic romance without anyone questioning its morality.

Cast probables: Who should work in it? Well, SRK could easily do it with Shraddha Kapoor perhaps…it was an unusual film…hence, the remake should be unusual too!

Well, these are some of the Yash Chopra films that should return to 70mm for the experience so that this new generation who has only heard about this great man get a glimpse of what he was!
