Bengaluru, Sept 27: The Kolkata police executed a successful operation while arresting six key members of the Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen, Bangladesh on Monday. While a large part of the problem has been sorted out, officials say that there are still two modules in South India which need to neutralized.

Operatives of the JMB have often sought shelter in South India after carrying out an operation in West Bengal or Bangladesh. The traces of JMB operatives entering South India have been discovered on more than two ocassions.

A recent arrest of an operative in Tamil Nandu's is one such indication. While the JMB which has tied up with the ISIS, has decided on establishing the Bengal Caliphate, it also nurtures plans in South India. At first the South was used more as a hideout. However, the outfit realised that there is a vacuum in the absence of the Indian Mujahideen or the SIMI.

Officials now confirm that the JMB has been carrying out its operations along with the ISIS. Recently the NIA arrested several persons who were allegedly part of the ISIS. It was found during investigations that most of these persons had a JMB link as well.

The ISIS too has been trying to make a ground in South India. Haja Fakkruddin, the first known ISIS recruit from India hails from Tamil Nadu. Following the Fakkruddin incident, there have been many more cases that have been reported from Tamil Nadu, Telangana and Karnataka as well.

Only recently a case in which 21 people from Kerala who had gone missing was reported. It is suspected that they had left their state to join the ISIS.

Officials say that they are on the look for three operatives who could have moved into South India. Maulana Yusuf, Nasirullah and Kausar are the three men on the police radar. It is suspected that these people may have crossed over into South India with an intention of setting up a module.
