The celebrated film critic turned filmmaker Khalid Mohamed is busying himself with a biography. His chosen subject is she of the batwing eyelids and the forever shimmying hips--the rather affable Asha Parekh.
'The Hit Girl' has been signed on by a Delhi-based publisher, and will be released on April 10. Salman Khan has even agreed to write a forward to the book.

"Asha Parekh was the trade's delight," Mohamed tells us.
"She gave a round of hits all through the 60s and early 70s. She was a great actor, and an excellent dancer, both western and India. Then, this JB Petit girl went on to head many film bodies, including the Censor Board."
Mohamed says he has known her since his days as a magazine editor and was especially thrilled she received a lifetime achievement award during his tenure. "We became close, and she even became friends with my grandmum. The two ladies would go shopping together and share secrets," he laughs.
He asked her why she didn't have a biography once to which Parekh replied that no had asked her. The writer in him was aroused, and his book promises to be an anecdotal retelling of the legend's highs and lows. "Incidentally, it's also the 50th year of Teesri Manzil this year," Mohamed reminds us.

Why Asha Parekh never got married?
