LUDHIANA: Indifference of municipal corporation (MC) officials towards development works in the city came to light yet again as employees were seen doing patch work in CRP colony at the waterlogged patches of road on Monday afternoon. While residents rued that the work was of no use and mere formality as it would not sustain, officials maintained they had already planned the work.
Earlier also, instances have been witnessed at different points in the city including Haibowal area, Shastri nagar wherein the road construction or patch work was done at waterlogged roads.
Jaskaran Singh, a resident of the area, said that about three months ago too, the patch work was done at the stretch but it did not sustain. "How do authorities expect that the roads would be in good shape and the work would sustain at these water logged patches?" he questioned.
Another resident Manpreet Dua said that on one hand, the government was making tall claims of infrastructural development by installing hoardings about the development work in the city on the other, it has failed to keep a check on the quality and sustainability of the developmental works. "Even if it's patch work, all work should be done giving emphasis on quality," he added.
