The 23-year-old Bostick hit a combined .250 with 22 doubles, 10 triples, eight home runs and 51 RBIs in 135 games this season between Double-A Harrisburg and Triple-A Syracuse.

Bostick was originally selected by Oakland in the 2011 draft before being acquired by Texas on Dec. 3, 2013. The right-handed hitting infielder was then acquired by Washington on Dec. 11, 2014.

Bostick has a career minor league average of .263 with 122 doubles, 39 triples, 49 home runs, 294 RBIs and 107 stolen bases in 615 games since making his professional debut in 2011. He entered this season tabbed as Washington's 23rd-best prospect, according to MLB.com.

Bostick was added to the 40-man roster but will not report to Pittsburgh. To make room for Bostick on the 40-man roster, infielder Josh Harrison was placed on the 60-day disabled list (right groin strain).

Gushue, 22, was the Pirates' fourth-round pick in 2014. He played at Class A Bradenton this season, hitting .226 with 17 doubles, eight home runs and 38 RBIs.
