A crucial meeting of the JD(S) here on Monday decided to strengthen the party at the grass roots level and ensure that its state chief H D Kumaraswamy becomes the next chief minister.

HUBABLLI: A crucial meeting of the JD(S) here on Monday decided to strengthen the party at the grass roots level and ensure that its state chief H D Kumaraswamy becomes the next chief minister. More than 500 members from eight districts attended the meeting.
After the meeting, MLC Basavaraj Horatti told reporters that party leaders H D Deve Gowda and H D Kumaraswamy will be asked to announce the candidates six months before the next assembly elections in 2018.
He said that the party will focus to organize itself at the village level. "We have formed a 15-member team which will travel across North Karnataka to strengthen the party," he said.
Horatti said that office bearers of various units will be appointment by October 30. "We are putting pressure on our leaders to issue tickets to honest workers," he said.
The meeting vowed to make its farmers' conference scheduled in November a success. The party said that special session of the assembly should be conducted to finding solutions to the Mahadayi and Cauvery water sharing disputes.
Kundagola MLA N H Konaraddi, Alkodu Hanumantappa, M C Managuli, Gururaj Hunasemarad, Rajanna Koravi, Shashibhushan Hegade and Ismail Kalabudde were present.
