INDORE: Shaswati Ghosh and Pritish Janjeere, Imraan Qureshi and Shubrajeet Ghosh from Madhya Pradesh won their opening matches in the women's and men's category on the first day of the Central India National Ranking
Table Tennis Tournament at Abhay Prashal Indoor Stadium.
On Monday, in the women's category group league matches, Shaswati along with Itti Sharma of Himachal Pradesh, Harsh Vardhini of (Airport Authority of India) AAI and Sania Sehgal of Haryana won their first match, moving ahead in the tournament.
In the same category, Archana Kamath (AAI), Mariya Roni (Kerala), Anushka Dutta (RSPB),
Mansi Deshpande (Maharashtra), Priyadarshini das (
West Bengal) and many other senior category players from various parts of Madhya Pradesh, advanced to the next level.
Meanwhile in the men's category group league matches, MP's Pritish Janjeere, Imran Kureshi and Shubrajeet Ghosh along with S Salam from Telangana, C Imran from
Chhattisgarh, S Malik from West Bengal, Sarthak Seth from Punjab and Ananth devranjan from Tamil Nadu also won their first match to reach the second round.
The tournament was officially inaugurated on Monday evening by
IDA chairman Shankar Lalwani along with other dignitaries of Madhya Pradesh Table Tennis Association. The tournament will be held till October 1 and this will be the 18th time that Indore is hosting this prestigious tournament.
