BHOPAL: Tired of bumps on roads of their residential area, children and young members of Shankaracharya Nagar, armed with RTI, lobbed their questions at Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC). They want to know why there has been no change in condition of roads in their area in past seven or eight years. Child resource team (CRT) of Shankaracharya Nagar area sent an RTI asking why, when and how their roads remain riddled with potholes at every step and what the civic body is doing.

Talking to TOI, Madhu Bodh, an RTI applicant, said, "We have questioned BMC as to why we have to suffer every time it rains? Our roads have not been made for past many years. Drainage is so damaged most of the part of road is covered with sewerage water, stinking, housing flies, breeding mosquitoes and resulting in accidents of two-wheelers in these narrow lanes. Even after complaints to ward corporators, no proper re-carpeting of roads has been done."
Children have sought details about when the road was made, and papers of its proceedings to make the road and the details of concerned officials.
Members of child resource team aged 14-20 also claimed when they held a nukkad natak on problems of the locality earlier this year.
Another team member, Sushma Rana, said, "There is so much of sewage water spilling over street and water-logging due to poor infrastructure that some children have to miss schools due to this problem, whether its raining or not. During rains, all houses at ground level are waterlogged. Next RTI, we are filing is over poor drainage system in the area. I hope the BMC considers and replies."
There are 14 members in one CRT and 5 in the ward, which include, Bajaria, Shankaracharya Nagar, Roshanbagh Dhobighat, Garam Gaddha and Naubahar.
