MK Stalin's clout under scanner

After DMK won 89 seats in the polls, he was rewarded with the Leader of Opposition and led the party in the House

Chennai: With DMK chief rejecting TMC’s tie-up proposal, party treasurer Stalin’s clout in party comes under scanner. DMK, which astonishingly came near the victory post in the Assembly elections, picked up the momentum from Stalin’s novel road show ‘Namakku Naamey’. He also campaigned throughout the state, establishing a connect with people.

After DMK won 89 seats in the polls, he was rewarded with the Leader of Opposition and led the party in the House. Most of the district secretaries and state-level functionaries share good ties with him.

As the local body elections approached, TMC leader G.K. Vasan met Stalin to hold talks for alliance. Kongunade Makkal Desiya Katchi leader E.R. Easwaran too began negotiations with him for seat adjustments in the western region.

Though, Stalin did not give assurances to both the parties, the perception that Stalin does not have a say in forming alliances has gained ground.
