VADODARA: With dengue cases rising by every passing day, the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has identified areas that are worst affected by disease.
VMC officials claim that health workers' teams and officials have extensively fanned out across the area to control the mosquito menace.
VMC data revealed that the the number of cases was alarmingly high in some areas like Navayard, Navidharti, Karelibaug, Navapura, Panchvati in Gorwa and Tandalja.
The concentration of cases was found higher in the northern and western zones of the city.
The VMC had received help from teams from six districts with malaria control officers and health workers surveying the city extensively and doing necessary intervention. "High breeding of the Aedes Egypti mosquitoes responsible for dengue was found in areas that had reported a large number of cases," said VMC's additional medical officer Dr Mukesh Vaidya.
Vaidya said that the teams from districts around Vadodara sprayed anti-larval chemicals during their visits and also prepared reports on the breeding.
"Mosquito control is the most effective way of handling the situation. The teams even gave necessary instructions to citizens at locations where high breeding was observed," said Vaidya.
