AURANGABAD: A 29-year-old woman's death in Kailash Nagar in the wee hours of Monday was shrouded in mystery after her parents, who are yet to lodge a complaint, suspected it to be a murder.
The deceased has been identified as Uma Nandu Sapkal, a resident of Kailash Nagar, under Jinsi police station's jurisdiction. Police said Uma, a native of Selu in Parbhani district, was married to Nandu about four months ago.

She reportedly poured kerosene and set herself afire around 5am at her in-laws' place in the city. Following the incident, she was rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital, but succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment. A case of accidental death has been registered at the Jinsi police station. Nandu, a salesman at a cloth shop, claimed the incident to be a suicide.
Investigation officer and assistant police inspector Vilas Thakre said Uma's body was taken to Selu for last rites after the post-mortem. Her father Namdev Solunke, a retired lab assistant from a Parbhani hospital, suspected that "she was forced to take the extreme step".
Future course of action in the case will be decided only after a complaint is received and investigation is carried out, Thakre added.
