Students of Degree college for Women staged a demonstration outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office here recently seeking basic amenities.

It was organised by the All-India Mahila Samskrutika Sanghatane (AIMSS).

In a memorandum, they drew the attention of the Deputy Commissioner about the lack of basic infrastructure and amenities at the nearly three-year-old college, which is presently being run on the DIET college premises. There is no drinking water, toilets, ill-equipped library, no desks, no permanent lecturers among other things.

According to them, with examinations fast approaching, the students plight knew no bounds. They urged him to initiate steps to provide them facilities.

The demonstration was led by Ms. Shanta and Ms. Eshwari of the AIMSS.
