Suspense over NMC’s 4th addl MC ends

Nagpur: The suspense over appointment of fourth additional municipal commissioner at Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has come to an end. Realizing its mistake, the state government has cancelled the appointment order.
On August 8, state’s general administration department, coming under chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, appointed IAS officer RV Nimbalkar as additional municipal commissioner at NMC.
As per NMC officials, only three posts of additional municipal commissioners are sanctioned by the government, of which two are on deputation and one promotion post. Rizwan Siddiqui is occupying the promotion post while Ramnath Sonwane and Ravindra Kumbhare on deputation posts.
The latest appointment by the government created a confusion at NMC. Municipal commissioner Shravan Hardikar told the government that the sanction was for only three posts of additional municipal commissioners at NMC.
Nimbalkar did not join at NMC since he was attending IAS training at Mussoorie. However, there was suspense in NMC for 48 days over whether the government will create one more post of additional municipal commissioner or cancel the appointment.
On Monday, NMC received a letter where the government cancelled the order and appointed Nimbalkar as municipal commissioner of Ulhasnagar.
