In defense of Pamela Anderson’s style

For the first time, it’s Pamela Anderson’s clothes that are turning heads.

The Playboy playmate and “Baywatch” babe has morphed into a triple threat: TV actress, outspoken writer and, suddenly, style icon.

The voluptuous star has been making the fashion rounds this month. She was spotted sitting front row at the Christian Siriano runway show during New York Fashion Week, and again at the Harper’s Bazaar Icons party with her model son, Dylan Jagger Lee.

During a recent Elle interview, Lee chided his famous mom for not having any style chops.

“We could [share clothes], but we don’t,” he said. “Because you don’t have much style.”

The boy may have 68,000 followers on Instagram, but he’s so wrong.

This year Anderson graced the pages of Paper magazine, considered a style bible. But her fashion cred doesn’t end there.

More recently she appeared on the cover of the British fashion mag Dazed for its 25th anniversary issue. In the glossy, stylist Emma Wyman dressed Anderson in outfits by major designers like Vivienne Westwood, Simone Rocha, Dior and Proenza Schouler.

Although she may be new to high-end clothing, Anderson’s look has been making waves worldwide since 1992, when she starred as C.J. Parker on “Baywatch.” Her iconic character, clad in a red one-piece swimsuit as she bounced around, is still burned into millions of male minds.

It was in that role where Anderson pioneered the all-American Barbie look that became so popular from the mid-’90s into the early aughts. Despite many attempts, the actress has often been imitated, but never duplicated.

Fast-forward more than a decade and Pam’s back on the scene. From runway shows to fashion parties, there’s no event too fashionable or high-brow for her.
