CHANDIGARH: The Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board (HSAMB) has decided to integrate 54 mandis with electronic National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) in the first phase of this ambitious project.

While four mandis of Ellenabad, Karnal, Ambala City and Shahbad have already been connected under E-NAM as a pilot project, 27 mandis will be covered under online platform by month-end. TNS

2 DSPs re-designated

The Haryana Government has re-designated two DSPs — Ramesh Pal, ACP, DLF, Gurgaon, and Ashok Kumar, DSP,Pehowa — as Additional Superintendents of Police (ASP) after they completed 10 years of service. TNS

Special discount

The Haryana Tourism has decided to offer 10 per cent discount on food and accommodation to the guests visiting its tourist complexes across the state from September 27 to 29 to mark World Tourism Day on September 27. Principal Secretary(Tourism) Abhilaksh Likhi said  food festivals would also be organised. The rooms can be booked online. TNS

One held for power theft

Mohinder Kumar, a resident of Sirta road, has been arrested for stealing power directly from the transmission line. The accused has been sent into judicial custody. The power theft caused loss of Rd 42,214. OC

3 held with drugs

The police arrested three persons in different cases and recovered 630 gm opium from them. Jagmohan Singh of Chakku Ladana village was held with 200 gm opium. He was booked under the NDPS Act. His motorcycle was also impounded. In two other cases, Bunti of Guhla and Manohar Lal of Polar village were held with 30 gm opium and 400 gm poppy husk, respectively. OC

Cops house burgled

Miscreants on Monday looted cash and valuables from the house of a head constable and held his wife hostage at knifepoint. Sources said four unidentified persons entered the house of Navinder in Friend’s colony. He is presently posted in Gurgaon. His wife and three children were at home at the time of the incident. The police said a case had been registered. TNS

24 girls get jobs

As many as 24 students of the Community College being run at local GVM Girls College got jobs at the placement fair organised on Monday. The fair was jointly organised by Paras Packaging, Plus Creation, Arhint Traders, Hans Rubber and Semitic companies. Representatives of Sonepat Small Industries’ Association were also present on the occasion. The college imparts computer training to girls from economically weaker sections of the society. OC

Kabaddi championship

Bhagat Phool Singh Women Polytechnic, Khanpur Kalan, on Monday bagged the Inter Women Polytechnic Kabaddi Championship by defeating Government Women Polytechnic, Faridabad, by a convincing margin of 57-18 in the final played at BPS Women University. The other four teams from government women polytechnics at Hisar, Sirsa, Ambala and Sampla also participated in the championship. Arjuna awardee, Geetika Jakhar, was the guest of honour. OC
