CSKA Moscow could be without key man Alan Dzagoev for their Champions League clash with Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday (27 September).

The 26-year-old Russia international missed Monday morning's training session after picking up an unspecified knock and CSKA boss Leonid Slutsky will hold off making a decision on the attacking midfielder until just before kick-off, according to a press conference.

Dzagoev's teammate Vasili Berezutski is also an injury doubt. The 34-year-old defender was forced off during CSKA's weekend draw with Krasnodar and will also undergo a late fitness test on Tuesday.

"I got hit just below the waist and had a very strong pain," he explained. "Now I feel better. After a workout, it will become clear if I will take part in tomorrow's match."

Tuesday's clash is also the first high profile meeting involving English and Russian fans since their violent clashes in France during Euro 2016. Travelling Spurs fans have been warned not to wear their team's colours in the Russian capital, with fan groups from both clubs hoping for no 'revenge' attacks.

Slutsky is confident of a peaceful evening, however. "I think the fans who will arrive in Moscow will be able to experience the high level of hospitality. Not only in the stadium, but in Moscow. There are no grounds for concern."

CSKA rescued a very credible 2-2 draw away to Bayer Leverkusen in opening Champions League group game a fortnight ago. The Russian champions found themselves two goals behind inside 15 minutes before they pulled two back inside two minutes through Dzagoev and Roman Eremenko.

Tottenham meanwhile lost their opening game, suffering a 2-1 defeat to Monaco at Wembley.
