The peak of Mount Mutombo will finally reach the top of the Pepsi Center in Denver.

On Oct. 29, the Nuggets will start their season off by retiring Hall of Fame center Dikembe Mutombo's number. Mutombo's jersey will hang alongside other retired Nuggets greats Alex English, David Thompson, Byron Beck and Dan Issel.

The Nuggets drafted Mutombo fourth overall in the 1991 NBA Draft and the shot-blocking center instantly turned the franchise into a force to be reckoned with in the Western Conference. Mutombo was a three-time All-Star with the Nuggets and played five seasons in Denver. To properly honor Mutombo on his special day, the Nuggets will also wear their iconic throwback rainbow city skyline jerseys:

Paying homage to Mutombo on opening night is a quite a special way for the Nuggets to start off their season.
