Authorities say no one was hurt after a fire tore through two homes in Airdrie, north of Calgary, on Monday morning.

At 4:40 a.m., the Airdrie Fire Department was called to respond to a fire that broke out inside a home at 1144 Williamstown Boulevard N.W.

When crews got there, they found the home and a neighbouring home consumed with smoke and fire.

All of the occupants of the homes had safely escaped prior to the arrival of firefighters. They were evaluated by EMS and were not injured.

A third home was also evacuated, but crews managed to keep the fire contained to the two homes.

Firefighters remain at the scene to monitor the wreckage for hot spots.

The cause of the fire and damage estimate is still under investigation.
