Govandi auto fire: Baby dies, 4 others critical

MUMBAI: The two-month-old baby who had suffered burns after an auto-rickshaw caught fire in Shivaji Nagar, Govandi, died on Monday.
Nine people, including the auto driver, four women and the baby, had received serious burns when the auto they were travelling in caught fire due to a gas leak.
After the auto-rickshaw got engulfed in the fire, passersby immediately removed the injured and rushed them to Shatabdi hospital.
The injured were shifted to Sion hospital on Monday.
A source said that three of the women, who suffered more than 50% burn injuries, are stated to be in critical condition. The Shivaji Nagar police have registered an accidental case and are awaiting a report from the fire brigade to know the exact cause of the incident. The police said that they will file an offence of negligence against the auto driver only after the fire brigade gives its opinion.
