MU says course run since 2009 not recognised
Aurangabad: The decision of Magadh University (MU) to “de-recognise” the Bachelor of Pharmacy course offered by the Sachchidanand Sinha College at Aurangabad has jeopardised the career of at least 200 students.
The college received an MU order to the effect on Friday. The four-year degree course was started in 2009, college sources said, adding at least 200 students are currently enrolled, pursuing the course in its different years.
Maintaining that it fulfils the requisite criteria to run the course, the college administration claimed it was awarded ‘B’ grade by the National Accreditation and Assessment Council after its team inspected the college and its infrastructure and interacted with its faculty last year.

According to university sources, however, the college was never issued a letter of recognition for the course by the office of the registrar.
“We are surprised,” college principal Omprakash said and asked how was the university conducting examinations year after year if the course was not recognised. He said he would raise the matter before the VC on Tuesday.
The sudden development, meanwhile, has angered the pharmacy students who have threatened to launch a stir the university went ahead with its move. “We have paid the fee and spent our time and energy. We will not sit idle if injustice is done to us,” said Rohit Kumar, a student.
