REPORT: Family blames physician for daughter’s death in Sidon, minister interferes

The family of 8-year-old Tia Mahmoud Renno, who died due to an injection prescribed as a treatment, staged a protest along with other residents and blocked the road outside the governmental hospital in the southern city of Sidon.

The protesters blamed the physician, identified only by his initials as Kh. A., holding him responsible for the girl’s death and calling on Health Minister Wael Abou Faour to launch an investigation in the case and to order an autopsy to be performed on the body to reveal the true cause of death.

In the details, the physician prescribed an injection for the girl, upon which she was admitted to the hospital for treatment last Wednesday (September 21), where she died the following day.

Immediately, Abou Faour gave instructions to initiate the investigations. He also asked Medical Care director to summon both the girl’s parents and the hospital’s administration representative to the Ministry of Health.
