Police hunt rapist on the loose after girl attacked in playground in Kent

POLICE are hunting a suspected rapist after a 15-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in a children's playground.

Kent Police said they had received a report that the girl had been raped shortly before midnight last Friday, September 23.

The alleged attack took place in the Toddler’s Cove playground, off Whitehall Road, in Canterbury.

Detectives were alerted to the attack on Sunday and have launched an investigation.

The playground is close to the centre of Canterbury but is surrounded by woodland and the Great Stour river.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: “In the early hours of Sunday 25 September Kent Police received a report that a 15 year-old girl had been raped shortly before midnight on Friday 23 September.

“As part of the inquiry, officers have put a cordon in place in the Toddler’s Cove playground, off Whitehall Road.

“Enquiries into the incident are currently ongoing.”
