Amritsar: The Congress has claimed that six workers of its Punjab women's unit were injured on Sunday morning, as the police resorted to a mild canecharge to disperse a protest by them at Amritsar airport against AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal's visit to Punjab.
Punjab Mahila Congress president Mamta Datta said they had gathered outside the airport to protest against the allegations of sexual exploitation levelled against AAP leaders.
"Policemen pushed and thrashed our women workers, including the elderly. There were only three women constables at the spot," she said. Datta, who too was injured in the protest and was bleeding from the mouth, claimed that Kejriwal saw the policemen thrashing the women Congress workers, but did not object.
Amritsar police commissioner A S Chahal couldn't be contacted for comment.
