FIR against Babasaheb Bhimarao Ambedkar University professor under SC/ST Act

LUCKNOW: Police have registered a case against under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against Prof Kamal Jaiswal of Babasaheb Bhimarao Ambedkar University (BBAU), on the directions of the DGP. The DGP's orders came on a complaint lodged by some Dalit students of the university at Aashiana police station in which they alleged that Jaiswal and his supporters assaulted and passed casteist remarks against the students on September 7 when they were waiting to meet university registrar Sunita Chandra to discuss issues related to hostel allotment.
The FIR was lodged on September 23 but police made it public on Sunday. Jaiswal had also lodged an FIR against eight Dalit students accusing them of assaulting him on September 7.
