Seven-year-old breaks longest swim record

Kashmiri Chowdhury, a seven-year-old girl from Sivasagar, swam non-stop for 7 hours and 49 minutes at the historic Joysagar tank on Sunday, entering the India Book of Records for 'longest swimming in natural water body'.

DIBRUGARH: Kashmiri Chowdhury, a seven-year-old girl from Sivasagar, swam non-stop for 7 hours and 49 minutes at the historic Joysagar tank on Sunday, entering the India Book of Records for 'longest swimming in natural water body'. Kashmiri pipped Khushi Parmar, a 12-year-old from Pune, who had clocked 6 hours 32 minutes in 2014.
Kashmiri is a Class II student at the New Look Academy School in Sivasagar.Officials of the India Book of Records later handed over the certificate.

Spread over 318 acres, the Joysagar tank is said to be the biggest man-made lake in India. It is located in Rangpur in Sivasagar and was made by Ahom king Rudra Singha in 1697.
