Two bikers robbed near Kapurai bridge

Two persons were beaten up and robbed by eight unidentified men near Kapurai railway bridge on Tarsali highway on Saturday night.

VADODARA: Two persons were beaten up and robbed by eight unidentified men near Kapurai railway bridge on Tarsali highway on Saturday night.
The victims, Balwant Thakor and Ganpat Patel, were robbed when they were on way to Halol on their bike .
"We started from Tarsali bus-stand and stopped near Kapurai railway bridge to relieve ourselves. Eight persons came and dragged us to a nearby farm where they thrashed us with sticks," said Thakor, a vegetable vendor in Tarsali.

He added that the robbers took away Rs 60,000 cash, a gold chain worth Rs 20,000 and a mobile phone from him and Rs 3,000 cash and mobile phone from Patel.
Thakor and Patel managed to escape and reached Tarsali check-post where they narrated the incident to the policemen.
Later, they also got to know that a truck driver who was going to Banswada had also stopped at the same spot to relieve himself and is believed to have been robbed for Rs 5,000 by the same gang.
"We are trying to track the mobile phones of the victims which the gang had taken away. Once the phones are switched on we will get some clues about their location," said R H Jadeja, Makarpura police inspector . He added that due to darkness the victims could not see their faces.
