GUMLA: A big contingent of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Jharkhand Jaguar (JJ) and district police on Sunday conducted an operation to zero in on Maoist leaders in the bordering areas of Gumla, Latehar and Lohardaga districts.
"A fresh operation to nab at least 30 Maoists is going on in the interiors of three districts," said officer in charge of Bishunpur police station Manilal Rana.
Sources say that security forces are trying to nab zonal commanders, who are leading the Red squad and have made the forest region bordering with Latehar and Lohardaga districts their safe zone in Bishunpur police station in the district.

Since the operation is conducted in the interiors, a quick encounter could be ensued any time, a security personnel said. The region has become a safe den for zonal commander Nakul Yadav and his squad, which moves freely there.
Two years ago, security forces had killed a Maoist in an encounter at Kumari forest. On Saturday, police also recovered an IED and packets of medicines from the same spot.
