KOZHIKODE: In his brief interaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the lunch break at Swapna Nagari on Sunday , the venue of the three-day BJP national council meet, Thiruvananthapuram-based RSS pracharak Amal Krishna narrated how he had narrowly escaped death in a Left-instigated attack.
In his concluding address to the 1,800 BJP delegates, Modi shared the heart-rending narration of Krishna, who said he was assaulted by Left supporters while campaigning in the last assembly polls in the state.
“I met a BJP supporter who was brutally assaulted and survived after battling for his life in hospital for three months,“ the PM said, recalling Krishna's story .
Modi exhorted delegates to create a buzz across the country about `Left atrocities' against BJP supporters, which, local BJP leaders claimed, had increased after the LDF came back to power.Empathising with BJP sup porters falling victim to political violence in Kerala, Modi urged all delegates and mediapersons to read `Ahuti', a book recalling untold stories of sacrifices of BJP workers in the state.
The book, which has a woman with tears in her eyes on its cover page, was distributed to all delegates. It fea tured gruesome pictures and several stories of BJP workers allegedly killed by Left supporters.
“Please read the book and see how many `Ahuti' have been given by BJP supporters in Kerala,“ Modi said and assured local leaders that they should be patient. “It is ironic that the wails of Kerala don't reach Delhi due to the distance,“ he said.
The PM said sacrifices of Kerala BJP leaders should set the tone of discourse among party workers across the country . “Violence in democracy can't be accepted. We should not be attacked for not accepting somebody's ideology ,“ he said.

Modi encouraged party workers in the state to keep fighting by democratic means as he termed them an inspira tion for millions of BJP workers in the country. “Kabhi kabhi julm sahna julm badhane ka kaam karta hai,“ he said but added that the party should not deviate from lawful means.
Political violence in Kerala, mainly between BJP and Left supporters, has increased in the recent past. BJP leaders are so aggrieved that several pictures showing the killing of their supporters have been displayed at the exhibition organized at Swapna Nagari during the council meet.
A local art director, Yaga Sreekumar, has organised the exhibition entitled `Left atrocity against BJP'. However, the ruling LDF has claimed that the RSS and BJP were creating disturbances in the state in their desperate bid for political foothold.
