Obsessed with girl, 24-yr-old kills her father

Bathinda: A youth has been accused to have killed the father of the girl whom he wanted to marry. Both families reside in village Jai Singh Wala falling under Sangat police station in Bathinda.
Chamkaur Singh (24) used to consider the girl's father Gursewak Singh (50) to be hurdle in his way even though the affair was one sided, said villagers. Chamkaur, an agriculturist, killed Gursewak with sharp edged weapons on Saturday night and escaped.He is still at large. Police have registered case under murder charges against Chamkaur upon complaint of the girl.
The police said Gursewak was a registered medical practitioner and used to stop Chamkaur from seeing his daughter.
At least, on two occasions Gursewak had complained against Chamkaur to the village panchayat in the past few months but the latter failed to mend his ways.
As per the villagers, the accused scaled the wall of Gursewak's house on Saturday night and hit him with sharp weapons and escaped when the girl came out of a room.
Sangat police station SHO Sandeep Singh said, "Chamkaur is accused to have killed Gursewak with sharp edged weapon. A case under section 302 (murder) has been registered against Chamkaur and efforts are being made to arrest him."
