Guntur: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced underground drainage for Dachepalli to save it from marooning during heavy rains and floods.
Mr Naidu conducted an aerial survey of Macharla, Gurazala, Piduguralla and Dachepalli areas on Sunday.
The Chief Minister landed at Dachepalli and inspected the damaged shops and houses due to flash floods at Metla Bazaar and interacted with the flood victims.
The flood victims alleged that Dachepalli was never marooned before the construction of Addanki-Narketpalli highway but after the construction of this highway, it is frequently getting inundated.
They explained that there were no proper side drains for the free flow of the floodwater on the either sides of the highway and further there were no drains at toll gate area on the highway which is forcing the floodwater into Dachepalli during rains and floods. They complained that the highway contractor has to construct an over-bridge on Naguleru stream, but only under tunnel was constructed, which is reversing the stream water into Dachepalli.
Responding to the complaints, Mr Naidu assured about taking stern action against the contractor of the highway for faulty construction of the road.
He ordered the officials to conduct a thorough inquiry into the anomalies. He announced underground drainage to Dachepalli with Rs 10 crore funds.
He announced Rs 95,000 compensation to each totally collapsed house, Rs 5,000 each to damaged houses and distribution of essential commodities and Rs 3,500 cash aid to each flood-affected houses.
The Chief Minister assured about distribution of aid to the farmers in the next three days and supplying of seeds and fertilisers at subsidised prices.
Mr Naidu inspected the Katra Vagu damaged crops in Gurazala and Rentachintala and viewed the Gadida Vagu which marooned the farmlands.
Ministers, D. Umamahe-swara Rao, P. Pulla Rao, R. Kishore Babu and S. Raghava Rao and Gurazala MLA Y. Srinivasa Rao and officials participated in the programmes.
Meanwhile, the tenant farmers in large numbers joined the interaction with the Chief Minister and complained about the absence of loans for cultivation from banks and compensations during natural calamities and sought cooperation from the government.
Responding to the difficulties of tenant farmers, Mr Naidu appealed to the farmers to cooperate with the tenant farmers towards getting bank loans and compensation during natural calamities. He said that the adamant behaviour of farmers is unjustifiable and asked them to cooperate with the tenant farmers.
The CM warned that if the farmers are unwilling to cooperate with the tenant farmers, the government will make a new Act for the protection of tenant farmers.
