Beauty queens from Portugal dressed in casuals sat among the 40 special children from Satya Special School at the lush green garden in Krtashreya Aurodhan Gardens on Pappammal Koil Street on Sunday.

They cuddled the special children, made them sit on their lap and began conversation with the children. The children were excited to introduce themselves to the three beautiful women from Portugal.

Goodwill visit

“Cristiana Viana, who was crowned Miss Portugal in June this year, along with Sara Savery, Miss Beauty Queen Portugal, and Vanessa Sousa, Miss Tourism Portugal, are in Puducherry on a goodwill visit to promote Tamil Nadu tourism,” Isidro de Brito, president, Miss Republica Portuguesa Pageant.

After visiting all the main tourist destinations in Tamil Nadu, they arrived at the coastal town on Saturday. Sitting in the garden, they watched the special children perform a skit and cheered as they danced to a Tamil song. Later, they went to the stage and posed with the special children.

Along with the children, they stood in front of Krtashreya Aurodhan Gardens on Pappammal Koil Street holding brooms to symbolically show the importance of keeping the environment clean. “This is an initiative of Aurodhan Pondicherry People’s Participation to promote the Prime Minister’s Swachh Bharat drive with a difference,” said Lalit Verma, founder of Aurodhan Art Gallery.
