Singareni power unit begins commercial operations

The first unit of the 2x600 MW Singareni thermal power plant at Jaipur in Adilabad district was declared commercially operational on Sunday with the successful completion of 72-hour commercial operation declaration (COD) run.

The process of COD was completed in the presence of Chairman and Managing Director of Singareni Collieries Company Ltd. N. Sridhar and the officials of two Discoms and Telangana Transco. According to officials, an average of 612 MW power was generating in the 600 MW capacity unit for 72 hours from 5 p.m. of September 22 to 5 p.m. on September 25. About 460 million units of power has already been generated in the first unit since its synchronisation with the grid on March 13. The power generated in the units has been synchronised to the grid at Gajwel in Medak district.
