State government to start nursery schools

Minister of State for Primary and Secondary Education Tanvir Sait has said that the State government has decided to start nursery schools from the 2017-18 academic year.

He was speaking at a programme organised by the Samyukta Muslim Okkoota to felicitate meritorious students in Tirthahalli town on Sunday.

At present, private institutions collect a hefty fee and donation for kindergarten education. To avoid this, the State government has decided to start its own nursery schools where fees will not be charged. If kindergarten is introduced at the existing government school buildings, the enrolment for lower primary schools is likely to enhance, he said.

The government has also decided to not give permission for commencement of new private schools for the next five years. The cooperation of members of the alumni of government schools will be sought to upgrade the academic standards and amenities there, he said.

Mr. Sait said the government will soon issue a notification to fill 1,689 vacant teaching posts in government high schools. Kimmane Ratnakar, MLA for Tirthahalli, was present.
