Techie drowns in Pavana dam in Maharashtra

Lonavala rural police have identified the deceased as Sharad Kumar Vinakota, a resident of Vimannagar and hailing from Telangana.

A 21-year-old Information Technology (IT) professional, who had gone to Lonavala for a picnic along with his friends, drowned in the Pavana dam on Saturday.

Lonavala rural police have identified the deceased as Sharad Kumar Vinakota, a resident of Vimannagar and hailing from Telangana. Police said he was working with a data analysis company in Vimannagar.

Police said, “Sharad Kumar and his six friends had come to Lonavala for a picnic. First, they went to Lohgad fort for a trek and later biked to Pavana reservoir. Around 1 pm, three of them, including Sharad Kumar, entered the water for a swim near Shindgaon village. At one point, Kumar started drowning. His friends tried to rescue him but could not. They then informed the police.” His body was found around 4.45 pm.
