NURPUR, SEPTEMBER 25
The police, led by DSP, Nurpur, Navdeep Singh, today raided bootleggers in the Mand area and destroyed around 5 lakh ml of raw liquor locally known as lahan.
As per information, the police raided Uleharian, Gagwal and Barota villages, known for brewing of illicit liquor, and seized two working stills and a large number of tools, containers, drums, electric motors and different equipment used in brewing illicit liquor.
The police have booked four persons engaged in brewing illicit liquor out them three have been arrested under the Excise Act. Navdeep Singh said the three arrested had been identified as Sonia of Gagwal, Chetna and Dharmender of Uleharian and fourth Karnail Singh of Gagwal was still absconding.
SP, Kangra, Sanjiv Gandhi asserted that the district police would further intensify its drive against drug peddlers and illegal mining activities in the district.
