A CCI member had accused Nicholson of stalking his daughter and creating trouble in her marriage.

However, the election that went on till late Saturday night saw Nicholson (1,171 votes) pipping his nearest rival Kapil Malhotra (995 votes). Nitin Dossa too had thrown his hat in the ring and secured 367 votes.
Malhotra, who has functioned as Indian cricket team manager in the past, and was also Indian Premier League governing council member in the BCCI, gave a tough fight but couldn’t get the desired votes. He, however, won an executive committee post.
“These allegations in media were all planned to spoil Nicholson’s name. People are not stupid that they don’t know why such reports are coming just a few days before the elections. It was a close fight but we all knew that Nicholson will win,” said a CCI member.
Meanwhile, in the contest for the honorary treasurer’s post, Rajan Hiranandani (1,443 votes) defeated Sanju Kothari (1,048 votes).
